Fairchild Air Force Base Open House & Air Show

Nothing beats the sights and sounds of fighter jets ripping through the sky, and that is just the sight and sounds you’ll see each year at SkyFest, the annual open house and air show at Fairchild Air Force Base, located outside Airway Heights. The weekend of jets and pilots showing all the right stuff is sure to make kids of all ages oohh and ahhh at this ever popular event. The free event draws crowds from all over the area who want an up-close and personal look at the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, as well as some civilian aircraft flying. The event celebrates the community of Airway Heights Festival with something for everyone at this annual event. There is always lots of great live music and the annual Inland Empire Fords Unlimited Show. Indian Canyon Golf Course
This golf course was designed in 1930 by H. Chandler Egan and opened for play in 1935. Indian Canyon has been chosen by Golf Digest as one of the top 25 public course in the United States. The course sits atop the west entrance to Spokane, overlooking the city. As the host to many major tournaments, Indian Canyon has hosted the USGA three times; the United States Amateur Public Links Championship in 1941 and 1984; and the United States Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship in 1989. Indian Canyon now hosts the Rosauers Open, the largest PGA section event in the United States. Built on a canyon wall with a vertical drop of 240 feet amid many towering pines, it offers a diverse and unique playing environment. The course is well bunkered and has undulated greens which require a deft touch if par of 72 is to be achieved over the hilly 6,255 yards. Spokane County Off-Road Vehicle Park (Extreme Motor Sports)

The park features a variety of 4-wheel drive, off-road, motorcycle, go-kart and ATV events throughout the year as well as safety and education programs and skill clinics. Activities range from family and group outings to events that are state, regional, national and international in scope. L ocated one mile north of Highway 2 on Hayford Road, about one mile east on Sprague Road. Season is open five days a week from March 15 through October 15. Fees are $2.00 per person per day (under age 6 free with paid adult). 509.456.4730.
